In-Joy Therapy and Yoga was developed by me, Sharon Hyman, LCSW-C, RYT. I have over 20 years of therapeutic experience, working in the fields of grief and bereavement, chronic illness, adoption, and infertility. I earned my MSW from Columbia University and continued my studies at the Family Therapy Practice Center of Washington, DC while running a federal grant for families affected by HIV/AIDS. A longtime yoga practitioner, I became a registered yoga teacher with a focus on therapeutics, yoga for emotional healing, and meditation. I am a lifelong student, continually developing my own tools, skills and passions.

I guide people of all ages and stages – including children*, teens*, young adults, and adult professionals. My combination of East meets West, my sense of humor, and my high attunement with my clients add to my expertise and promote success. From yoga poses to meditation to play and art therapy with kids, I use many tools to help kids feel safe and heard. With adults, I find the key is to focus on connection, validation, support, and understanding.

*When working with a child or teen, I collaborate with her/his school and other therapists (such as OT and psychiatrist). I am often the chief advocate for understanding the child’s strengths, capacities, and vulnerabilities.
